The Move to Palladium
UPDATE AUGUST 2021
As Rhodium has peaked over $30,000 per ounce, we have made the decision to move all of our “silver” or “white” plating to Palladium, another precious metal in the Platinum family. After extensive testing we are happy with the look, and satisfied with the quality and wearability of Palladium as an alternative to Rhodium – which in addition to pricing itself out of the market is being increasingly difficult to obtain.
Should you have any clients who still desire a rhodium finish, please contact us for market pricing. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
As you may be aware, our standard “silver” or “white” metal plating material is rhodium. One of the rarest and most expensive precious metals in the world, rhodium has ad an extraordinary price in crease over the least 12-18 months, rising more than 500%, coming dangerously near $20,000 per ounce as I write this.
Because of the vast discrepancy this has caused between our plating metals – gold is floating just under $2,000 today – we have decided the best course is to institute a surcharge on rhodium plated items.
Beginning today, January 12th, 2021, all items ordered with rhodium or dark rhodium plating will have a 6% surcharge added. This surcharge may raise or lower depending on the metals market. No surcharges will be added for 14k yellow or rose gold plating.
We are working hard to bring you the options of sterling silver plating, and will let you know when this is available. Please be aware that sterling plating is not as sturdy as rhodium, but we’ll talk more about that once it’s available.
Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to us on any of our channels.
